Food Bank Volunteering

In September 2024, members of the Odia Social and Cultural Association of Alberta (OSCAA) came together to volunteer at the Calgary Food Bank, contributing their time and energy to support families in need across our community.

As an organization deeply rooted in values of service, compassion, and community spirit, OSCAA is proud to have played a small but meaningful role in helping the Calgary Food Bank in its mission to fight hunger. Our volunteers enthusiastically took part in sorting and packaging food hampers, ensuring that essential items reach those who need them the most.

The experience was not only fulfilling but also a powerful reminder of the impact collective action can have. Working alongside Food Bank staff and other volunteers, our team witnessed firsthand the strength of community collaboration in creating positive change.

We thank all OSCAA members who participated and encourage others to join us in future initiatives. Together, we can continue to uphold the spirit of "seva" (service) that is central to our Odia heritage and give back to the community we now call home.
