ଉତ୍କଳ ଦିବସ
Odisha Day (Odia: ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଦିବସ, also Odisha Dibasa and Utkala Dibasa (Odia: ଉତ୍କଳ ଦିବସ)is celebrated on 1 April in Odisha in the memory of the formation of the state as a separate province on 1 April 1936. This day signifies the separation of Odisha from the combined Bihar and Orissa provinces during the British colonial era in India.
The foundation of the cultural and social organisation "Utkal Sammilani" boosted the independence movement in Odia. This organisation was founded by "Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das" in the year 1903 to advance the establishment of Odisha as an independent state. To honour the great leader and his contribution, the founding day is also known as Utkal Divas.
Odisha Day, alternatively known as "Vishuva Milan", is observed as a specified holiday within the state.
Utkal Divas is more than just a celebration of Odisha’s formation; it is also a tribute to its rich heritage and culture. From traditional Odia cuisine, folk music, and dances to art forms and tourist destinations, the state boasts immense cultural wealth.
OSCAA Organized Utkal Divas on April 6th, 2024 at Scandinavian Centre.
